2nd Annual Blue Mass honors Police, Fire, and Safety Personnel

The procession of police, fire, and safety personnel to the Cathedral of St. Joseph.

HARTFORD (05-2-2010) - The 2nd Annual Archdiocesan Blue Mass was celebrated by the Most Reverend Henry J. Mansell at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford. The Mass was dedicated to honoring and remembering the sacrificial service our police, fire and other safety personnel offer for the betterment of our community.

In his homily Archbishop Mansell thanked all those who have fallen in the line of duty and those currently serving and their families for their readiness to live and express the greatest love of all, to lay down one’s life for another. “We thank you for who you are and what you do each day for the good of the community and the good of your fellow men and women. You get up and go every day and every night knowing that this might be the day you make the ultimate sacrifice for our community.”

Police officers, firefighters, emergency personnel and Hartford Police Explorers participated in the procession and Mass.
